As we head toward Winter Solstice and long dark days, my wish for all of us is that we bring the light to the places within ourselves that want to be nurtured, to the people in our lives that need a little brightness, and to our work, too, as we illuminate what is truly deeply calling us.
I have a little ritual I do when I’m out in the world and just before I get out of the car. I like to tell myself, “Be the light, Kelly Rae. Just be the light.” It helps me check my energy before heading in to the Post Office where I’m certain I’ll find grumpy people, before meeting with a friend who is struggling, before picking up my kiddo from school. Be the light.
And in times when I can’t be the light, I try and look for the light. In a friend’s sweet text message. In a stranger’s kindness. In a heart shaped leaf or rock on my walks. Find the light.
There is so much darkness in the world. Here’s to being or finding the light. Either way, you glow and illuminate the path for yourself and others.
