“Thank you Kelly. This e-course is so much more than I thought it would be. Delightfully deep, thought provoking & healing.”
Our words give voice to our souls
Nearly all of my paintings include an uplifting word or phrase — sometimes called a “mantra.”
People often ask me how I “come up” with all those mantras.
They’re usually just words that my heart needs to hear, in that moment.
So, I come up with them … by tuning into my heart.
And now, it’s your turn.
“Doors and windows flew open for me, never knew how to express myself in such a deeply positive way.”
Hello paint, paper, and getting beautifully messy with our
hands. It’s about unleashing our joy.
With Hello Soul, Hello Mixed Media Mantras , I’ll help you create a mantra (or two, or three, or four) — and then we’ll paint it into life. Through a series of high-def video tutorials, I’ll show you how I create my paintings, layer by layer – and you can follow along, right at home.
There’s no prior experience required. Whether you’re new to the world of mixed-media painting or have been at it for years, this e-course will inspire you to create meaningful, richly layered paintings that speak directly to your heart.
I will walk you through every step, side by side.
“The soul searching for my mantras was not only my FAVORITE part…it was so totally unexpected and so very amazing for me! I’m AMAZED at the healing, to say the very least!”
The class is organized into three jam-packed soul-filled sessions:
Most of the time, we know who we are – and what we stand for. But sometimes the noise of everyday life can leave us feeling lost & confused. Having a personal mantra is like a magnet back to home. It pulls us back to our power. In part one, we’ll dive into ways we can silence the noise, hear our own hearts, and create words and mantras that we’ll then paint into life.
In part two, we’ll unleash our joy, and paint & shred & stencil & smudge & smear & stamp like our hearts depend on it. We’ll let our creative spirit soar while learning how to create deeply layered, gorgeously textured backgrounds. All the while, we’ll embrace the chaos, the mess, and the no-mistakes style of mixed-media painting.
In part three, we’ll continue the journey of trusting our voices while we begin to bring our paintings together by following (and trusting) our creative urges. We’ll add our mantras to our paintings in this session, add finishing touches, and celebrate all that we’ve learned while embracing the process.
By the end of the course, you’ll have a beautiful work of art (or two, or three!) to hang in your home – filled with words that are meaningful to you. You’ll also be a part of a vibrant community of fellow creative spirits.

“This art class has been way more than I could of ever of dreamed of so far,Thank you Kelly Rae!!”
Top Notch design + functionality : The e-course classroom is a beautifully designed and extremely easy to navigate website all on its own. Once you pay for the course, you’ll have your own specific login and password (that you create), and can login anytime, from anywhere.
Soul-filled lessons: The lessons throughout the course include personal stories, supply tutorials, downloadable worksheets, and over 17 high-def engaging video demos with a “live” guest student participating, right alongside me.
Professional high-def videos: In addition to the written content, there are over six hours of exquisitely-produced videos that mirror the feel of a face-to-face workshop. The videos, all filmed in my studio, include two different views of the demo paintings. We went all out for this baby.
Art Supplies: I share, in detail, every art supply I use, where I get them, and how to use them. For those of you who are like I was not that long ago and feeling confused in the aisles of art stores, this is an extremely valuable part of the course. I love sharing my resources!
“This class is amazing and having Lynx [on air student] there was sheer GENIUS!!!! Seeing both of you doing side by side was double value, double fun – thank you.”
Unlike any other painting e-course out there (that we know of),
all the demo videos were created with a guest student
(her name is Lynx, and you will adore her).
Real life instruction: I am in love with this format. Standing right next to me and following along with her own canvas is Lynx, my guest student. Having never painted in this mixed-media style before, she had all the same questions that you might have, and my walking her through her painting, from start to finish, will be extremely valuable to you. Warning: we had major fun filming these videos, so there will be giggling mixed in with lots of soulful anecdotes and useful conversation.
Pacing + Structure: This is a self-paced course. On Monday, September 8th, the virtual classroom doors will be open and all of the lessons will be available. You can pace through them however quickly or slowly you’d like. If you want to do one lesson per day, great. If you want to do 5,6,7 lessons a day, go for it. Either way, you can access the classroom anytime, anywhere, and go at your own pace. Your login and password will work for six full months so you can watch and rewatch the videos as many times as you need.
“Love loved every moment. I am going back to start all over. It’s like a favorite movie that you never want to end and watch over and over!”
Heart + soul + techniques. That’s how I roll.
For those of you who have read my book, Taking Flight, or Flying Lessons, my popular e-book, then you know my teaching style is a mixture of inspiring storytelling and straight-up techniques.
This e-course is no different. I’ll not only share my techniques with you through video tutorials, but also soul-stirring written stories of all I’ve learned these last few years as I’ve stepped into the creative life as an accidental artist – the good and the hard – as they relate to all the metaphors and life lessons that emerge when you face a blank canvas and work with it until the finished beauty emerges. Kind of like we’re sitting together on a cozy couch, having some tea, sharing stories, side by side. Yes, just like that.
And did I mention the community?
The community inside the classroom is a beautiful constellation of people. They are seekers, creative beings, joyful spirits who want to invite a bit more creative play into their lives. They are welcoming, kind-hearted, sweet souls who uplift and support one another along the way. Some are sharing the lessons and taking the class with their children and family members. Some are cozily taking their time, relishing the self paced nature of this course. Some are beginners, some masters. Either way, they are all in, allowing the unfolding. I’m an artist, but I’m also (as one friend cleverly put it) a Connectress. When I bring people together (online or otherwise), big things happen. I can’t explain it – it’s just the power of creative synchronicity. And community.
“I am feeling so grateful and so very honored to be part of this wonderful group of women! It is truly inspirational and heart-warming to read all of your words. Thank you Kelly for creating this safe place where so much can be expressed and shared. I know I will take Part I with me and will use it forever. Love it!”
All set, ready to roll?
If your heart is whispering, “This sounds like what we need” … then please join us for what has been a beautiful, meaningful experience for so many (including me).

Seriously, friends. Seeing the artwork and life aha’s coming out of this course has been one of the greatest rewards of my social work and art careers combined. I’m kinda weepy, just thinking about it.
“My nine year old daughter and I are having a great time with the lessons, which are so easy to follow. Thanks for doing this class!”
Calling all parents:
For those of you with kids – any age from 2yrs old to teenagers – I can’t tell you how much your kids will love this style of painting. It’s all about embracing the mess, imperfect mark-making, and having fun with art supplies inside a process where there are truly no mistakes. I would absolutely encourage you to do this course with them. My son has been painting with me since he was about 20mos old and not only does he love it, but it’s become something that we can do together. For those of you with older kids, this process can be a great way into deeper conversations with them about the bigger metaphors and life lessons that emerge when we are painting (trusting the process, embracing the uncertainties, discovering our voices, etc etc – all things we’ll dive into in class).
“Kelly, I cannot thank you enough for this class. It is truly an uplifting & freeing experience.”
Calling all “non-artists”
If you don’t consider yourself an artist, but you are deeply called to my paintings, then please take notice. I believe everything we find “beautiful” is actually a quiet whisper…calling us closer toward a life that is waiting for us. I wasn’t always an artist. I admired “artists” for a long time before I finally started playing with paint, at age 30. Everything shifted and changed and opened up, and a new way of experiencing, translating, sharing & being in the world was born.
The same creative expansion and opening is possible for you if you’re having similar whispers. When you’re ready to answer the call, I’d be honored to guide you into a fun, soulful, no-mistakes way of painting. No prior experience is needed to take this e-course.

Frequently Asked Questions:
I’ve never taken an on-line class before. Are the classes LIVE? Do I have to be at my computer at a certain time during the day?
The whole course is entirely self paced, meaning you don’t have to be anywhere at any given time to make it to the class. There are no specific times that you need to log in (meaning, nothing will be LIVE at 8pm, 8am, etc.). You can log in whenever you want and have access to all the lessons. You can log in everyday or every other day or once a week. Either way, the content (and the community) will be ready to greet you!
Once I register for the class, how long will I have access to the lessons?
We recognize that life gets busy! Your login and password will work for six full months. You can come back to the classroom anytime and view the lessons however many times you’d like for six months.
Do you offer an installment plan?
Yes! If you’d prefer, you can pay for the class in two installments. If you’d like to take advantage of the installment payment option, then please send us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Why the higher price?
A few people have asked me why my painting e-course is more expensive than some of my other online programs. It’s a perfectly reasonable question.
To answer it, I’ll say: there are hundreds of art, painting + creativity classes out there — from $1 Kindle e-books to $50,000 graduate school programs.
Given what I’m delivering in Hello Soul, Hello Mixed Media Mantras — essentially, everything I know about mixed-media painting with a soul-deep perspective, poured into a series of exquisitely-produced lessons + videos that mirror the feel of a face-to-face workshop — I believe that $247 is a fair + appropriate price point. My students agree, too. The testimonials still pour in each week. Major gratitude.
As with any investment, if this program speaks to you + feels like a “yes!” — then it’s a “yes.”
If it feels like a “no,” then it’s a “no.”
Only you can make that call. And whatever you choose, I’m wishing you big, beautiful, paint-splattered fun, on your journey!
I’d love to gift this class to a loved one. How can I register them for the course?
Shoot us an email at email@example.com and we’ll make it easy for you.
Will I need high speed internet to access the videos?
Yes, absolutely. All videos are high-def and will require a high speed internet connection. If you can see the video at the top of this page, you should be fine. Please note, we will not offer refunds if you are not able to see the videos due to a slow internet connection, so please consider this before purchasing the course.
What kinds of supplies will I need?
This is a mixed-media class, so you’ll definitely need a variety of supplies. We’re breaking down the supply list into two parts: the essentials and the extras. Once you’re in the classroom, you’ll have access to the videos, where I share, in detail, every art supply I use, where I get them, and how to use them. For those of you who are like I was not that long ago and feeling confused in the aisles of art stores, this is an extremely valuable part of the course. I love sharing my resources! The essentials that are absolutely needed include the following: a few colors of fluid acrylic paints, a variety of collage papers (mainly scraps of papers you likely have hanging around your house), gel medium, a spray bottle, canvas boards, brayer, some mark-making tools that are likely hanging around your house (bubble wrap, jar lids, pens, paper towels), and either alphabet stamps or alphabet stencils. The extra supplies that are not essential but would add greatly to the experience include the following items that can be found in many craft stores in the scrapbooking departments: ribbons, stickers, ink drops/sprays, stamps, washi tape, and embellishments.
